Poetry at Beattie: A reading by contemporary poets Sylvia Gorelick and Brenda Coultas, Sun., Oct. 7, 5pm

Friends of Beattie-Powers welcomes noted poets Sylvia Gorelick and Brenda Coultas, who will read their own works in our second program presented in collaboration with Blue Mountain Readings. Reservations at rhoveninc@gmail.com


Sylvia Gorelick is a poet, writer, and translator. Her chapbooks include Olympians, we are breathless (Poetry will be made by all!, 2014) and Seven Poems for Bill Berkson (Kostro Editions, 2009), and her next book of poems is forthcoming from Breather Editions. Her translation of Mallarm√©’s The Book is out from Exact Change, and her translation of Nietzsche’s Journey to Sorrento by Paolo D’Iorio was published by the University of Chicago Press in 2016. Sylvia is a doctoral candidate in Comparative Literature at New York University with a background in continental philosophy and feminist theory. Her current research focuses on the ethics of testimony. 


Brenda Coultas is the author of The Tatters, a collection of poetry published by Wesleyan University Press and A Journal of Places, published online by Metambesen Press. Her other books include The Marvelous Bones of Time and A Handmade Museum, both from Coffee House Press. Her poetry can be found in the recent anthologies: Readings in Contemporary Poetry published by the DIA art foundation, What is Poetry (Just Kidding, I Know You Know) Interviews from the Poetry Project newsletter, (1983-2009) and Symmetries Three years of Art and Poetry at Dominque Levy. She is the featured blogger this November for Harriet at Poetry Foundation website.
