Join us for our Holiday Party!

Dear Friends,

After enduring endless fights about tax cuts, international treaties and expired unemployment benefits, we all need some relief.  In this spirit, we invite you to our  Holiday Party on Saturday, December 11 from 2 to 4PM. We hope you will join us for delicious desserts and refreshments in the company of friends.

As 2010 draws to a close (and it is a great relief to many of us!), I have something else on my mind, too. I must call upon your help on behalf of the historic house and property we all hold dear.

You don't need me to tell you that the past couple of years have been tough financially.   This has been especially true for non-profits.  We are mindful that this financial fragility extends to the Village of Catskill, which in better times has been able to offer support when necessary, but not under current circumstances. Accordingly, we've kept our restoration projects to a minimum, while -- with a lot of volunteer help -- expanding and enhancing our gardens and programming to help build our audience.   Meanwhile, we've put more serious (and costly) projects on hold, such as upgrading the electrical system at Beattie.
But you and I know that time is of the essence with antique houses.

Therefore, I am asking that as you decide upon your year-end charitable donations, you put us on your list so that we can continue to give the house the attention it demands and deserves.  It is only with the help of extraordinary individuals like you that we are able to secure Beattie-Powers Place for the future enjoyment and enrichment of the community.

Of course, all your donations are tax deductible.  Please make checks payable to The Friends of Beattie-Powers Place and mail to P. O. Box 453, Catskill, NY 12414.

I thank you for considering us once again. And, I hope to see you this Saturday as we gather to celebrate the holiday season and the dawning of a new year with the friends and neighbors that help make Beattie so special.

Sincerely,

Robert Hoven
President
